Give It Up For Me
03:36
|
|||
It started back in junior high when I became so strong (rawr)
And soon I found that I could fly, it didn't take that long (zoom)
The super speed, the laser eyes, the list goes on and on (and on!)
I even think my superpowers helped me write this song (rhyme!)
Sometimes I'll go out looking for some trouble just for fun (let's go)
I always get the giggles when the punks bring out their guns (pew pew)
I'll gather up their weapons and I'll hurl them at the sun (hot!)
My name's the Silver Savior and I'm loved by everyone
I know when you're danger and I leap into the sky (zoom!)
I land precisely at the crime and poke 'em in the eye (boink!)
And once I hit a guy so hard I kinda made him die (oops)
You think that you can hurt me well just go ahead and try (or don't)
I never miss a photo op with kids from Make a Wish (aww)
I shill for Taco Bell because endorsements make me rich (ka-ching)
And just last week I realized that I can talk to fish (sup fish!)
I'm really not omnipotent, let's say omnipotish
Just look at him and see
This isn't just hyperbole
And I give autographs for free
Let's give it up for me
Did you see me on TV
There's nothing toxic about my masculinity
Let's give it up for me
Do I get bored of hero stuff? It kinda all depends (on what?)
A criminal's predictable, they never comprehend (so dumb)
They steal themselves some money and they buy themselves some friends (for now)
And then I toss them back in jail, it's always how this ends (uh huh)
Now some have called me Christ-like, but that's just idle talk (oh yeah?)
Worshippers? Well I don't know, I see them as a flock (like sheep!)
The people want protection from a symbol worth its stock (word)
I laugh when facing danger, yeah I just don't give a (hey! hey!)
Can you believe the editor who says I'm outta line? (wrong)
He calls me sacrilegious, he tells me to resign (as if)
He yells at me, his papers sell, that seems to work out fine (uh huh)
But let's be real, I’m close as you can get to the divine (amen!)
I know I’m not a god, though I look like one to you (you do)
I accept that I’m exceptional and everyone does too (of course)
You never have to worry, I'm devoted through and through (oh good)
Good thing I'm not a villain, just imagine what I'd do
He's our local deity
with invincibility
I mean, who's gonna disagree?
So let's GIVE it up for ME
How much better could I be
Sometimes I feel like a one-man trinity
Let's give it up for me
(everybody!)
So let's give it up for me
you're in my reality
It's hard to handle so much humility
Let's give it up for me
Me me me me me!

Don’t tell me that you love me
I’ve heard it all before
you have my soul, I have your key
but I need something more
I felt an obligation
so I assumed the debt
For 15 years of service
I haven’t been paid yet
And to think I fought to save this place
Did you ever care at all
You can blame yourself, it’s your disgrace
Every time…another hero falls
You said you would remember
No sacrifice in vain
A year ago December
You can’t recall the name
The saints of Saint Christina
We don’t get to retire
You don’t respect the struggle
You will respect the fire
You reduce me to a pretty face
Who comes when duty calls
There’s an ugly truth you can’t erase
Every time
I have done as you commanded
Every day what you’ve demanded
You are twisted, you are slanted
After years here’s where I’ve landed
Your agenda is supplanted
No more lies, I’m disenchanted
No more leaving empty-handed
No more taking me for granted
Your worship is pathetic
Your values are a joke
When flame consumes the kindling
We all go up in smoke
The rats who think they’re clever
Had flaws in every plan
I know that I know better
Catch me if you can
I have searched for years to find my place
I am free, and that is all
I feel no regret for your mistakes
Every time another hero falls

Your Own Devices
02:57
|
|||
Let me tell you all about my unlimited plan
I need a minute of your short attention span
there's a thing about people that I never understand
you don't look at other people you just look into your hand
More victims everyday
They offer you a window from the world and you obey
Goddamn, can you put that thing away
there's more to this existence than a digital display
It happens every damn day, people's lives are on hold
from the cattle in the subway to the robots on the road
Goddamn, just look what you were sold
you gave away your freedom, you are all remote controlled
Danielle, you never can tell
When you're here in Hero Falls it can all just go to hell
Goddamn Alexander Graham Bell
Now everyone's imprisoned in a private cell
You can't be left to your own devices
and you never could
You never asked what the ultimate price is
and I think you should
Why don't you listen to me, why don't you listen to me
I'm right in front of you and still you never see
If you don't know you're a slave you can never be free
Communication will be the death of me
Can you hear me now, did you hear what I said
The satellite's a parasite and it's inside your head
Goddamn, it's only gonna spread
One crash and everything's dead
You can't be left to your own devices
and you never could
I'm working on saving a world that's in crisis
for the greater good
You can't be left to your own devices
and you never could
You never asked what the ultimate price is
and I think you should

I can remember the night when we first met the sky
I know you felt a little scared, a little shy
Said it was someone else's gift, as you took flight
All I know is you lost your fear of heights that night
Sometimes we'd sneak out late at night, enjoy the view
Most of the time I had more fun enjoying you
Up in our private space above, alone, reserved
That compensation was the least that we deserved
Because we always had the sky, you and I
We always had the sky
We always had the sky, you and I
Secret identities and playing dress-up games
I used to worry we'd forgotten our real names
Spending our days and our nights in someone's fantasy
Why did you take so much responsibility
Maybe it looked like our whole life was action scenes
When I think back I miss the moments in-between
People adored us but they never really knew
I can't deny it's far less thrilling without you
But we will always have the sky, you and I
We will always have the sky
We will always have the sky, you and I
We traveled the world and elsewhere
Existing above in the open air
A bolt from the blue and now
I'm afraid there's no more time
I'm keeping busy and, you know, I can't complain
Once in a while it still hurts when it rains
They're all supportive but there's pity in their eyes
When I miss you I always come back to our skies
Cause we will always have the sky, you and I
We will always have the sky
We will always have the sky, you and I

Bad Scientist
03:24
|
|||
Well first you need to know that I had no intent to kill
I'm just a poor inventor developing my skills
Murphy was an optimist before he went downhill
When you're here in Hero Falls, if it can go wrong, it will
I like to dream up gadgets that I think can be of use
My science is compliant with whatever plan you choose
I've always been inspired by the heroes on the news
I want to help them win but I always seem to lose
I'm no mad scientist, just a bad scientist
Everyone one of my inventions was created to assist
People question my intentions and they still seem unconvinced
I'm not mad
It's just sad
That I'm bad
I came up with a stun grenade to help out Lucky Ace
I put it in a pretty case and left it at his place
I figured he could use it to stop robbers in a chase
But I guess he wasn't lucky when it blew up in his face
The portal gun, that shoulda worked, as far as I can tell
You zap a villain where they stand and send them to a cell
The prison guards described it as a doorway into hell
The body parts were scrambled and they can't forget the smell
I'm no mad scientist, just a bad scientist
Usually the problem is a decimal point I've missed
I'm sorry that I made your friend explode into a mist
I'm not mad
It's just sad
Look
The goal of my constructions is to help, let me be clear
Sometimes they do malfunction, just like any other gear
But somehow the destruction has defined my short career
If you don't read the instructions don't just blame the engineer
To harness quantum energy is practically an art
When magic turns out tragic it takes courage to restart
I almost packed it in after the freeze ray fell apart
And my taser fried Epitome and barbecued her heart
The laser net and grapple gun were failures in the end
But Skull & Bones survived and now I hear they're on the mend
I know it all looks terrible, I'm on a downward trend
But I've gotta keep on trying or I'll never make amends
I'm no mad scientist, just a bad scientist
I set my sights on greatness but so far I've kinda missed
The accidental murder is why people are so pissed
I'm not mad
It's just sad
That I'm bad

You
You're more a rumor than a family man
You
Now you're a legend and I have to ask
When you were out there in space could you remember my face
Did you forget about the people you abandoned in this place
You
We've got some history, none of it mine
You
So out of touch so now I'm out of my mind
It didn't take me too long to realize you were gone
If this is how you say you're sorry then you really got it wrong
How does this work
You disappear forever still connected by this tether
How does this work
I don't want your fucking jewelry, pretty clear you never knew me
How does this work
You
You wanted me to carry on instead
And you
You're my inheritance from the dead
Your whole identity was codependency
Get this cuff off you can fuck off if you think that this is me
You
I'm not surprised it doesn't answer my call
You
Can't say you ever really knew me at all
Don’t make decisions for me, not what I wanted to be
How can you call yourself a hero when you couldn't save me
How does this work
You disappear forever still connected by this tether and
How does this work
I don't want your fucking jewelry, pretty clear you never knew me
How does this work
Shackled by your memory, the family ties that bind
How can you love me when you leave me behind
How does this work
You disappear forever still connected by this tether
How does this work
I don't want your fucking jewelry, pretty clear you never knew me
How does this work

The Dinner Party
05:07
|
|||
Welcome friends
I am so glad you could attend
I recommend we start, now everyone's arrived
Because tonight
Despite the storm, the future's bright
There'll be no more need to fight to stay alive
My honored guests
I do consider you the best
It's why the rest were not invited to my hall
I propose
A new alliance with my foes
Form a guild none could oppose in Hero Falls
Let me put your mind at ease
As you enjoy the wine and cheese
Guarantees are in the actions, not the words
Why leave the future up to fate?
Have a drink and fill your plate
For tonight, we celebrate
I call a toast
For I respect you four the most
Please indulge your humble host as I profess
On nights like these
Let us enjoy the pleasantries
Tonight the brie and the chablis taste like success
We would be strong
If we could all just get along
It's a wrong we can make right if we agree
So as you dine
Imagine all our goals aligned
All the power will be ours I guarantee
Cooperation is the key
To invincibility
Coalescence is a blessing, not a curse
I suggest we call a truce
Put our skills to better use
Now, please enjoy the chocolate mousse
My father said
"You're either quick or else you're dead"
and he'd beat me 'til the red began to flow
It took its toll
A lesson etched upon my soul
Take control, and once you have it, don't let go
The final course
Best served cold, with no remorse
With a simple Trojan horse the deed is done
Now that you're fed
You haven't heard a word I've said
The dead have no idea what has begun
Now the hour is growing late
New opportunities await
I know my fate would be the same were roles reversed
This concludes our dinner date
Delivered on a silver plate
I am so glad that you just ate your just desserts

You and me
It was love at first sight, yeah that's right, the way love oughta be
Make it three
Have a girl or a boy, bring some joy and build a family
Not to be
If your sperm doesn't squirm then we'll find another strategy
Now I see
There are steps we can take we can make our dream reality
On a date
at the happiest place, all those happy children out at the gate
Contemplate
I see answers to all of our problems, it's almost like fate
Let's not wait
Find a kid we can mold not too old I'm thinking seven or eight
Not too late
It's bad luck, we're not stuck, we're not screwed if we can't procreate
My plan is to throw 'em in a van
and we make 'em what we want them to be
Use your washing machine and wipe their memories clean
I mean how hard can it be to make a happy family?
Old cliche
You were told to have kids, so you did, but now they won't go away
Every day
I see children ignored, Mom is more engaged with her chardonnay
Easy prey
they're neglected and lightly defended, we can save them today
Don't delay
Have a heart do our part to prevent a future runaway
We want kids and there are plenty around
Laughing at the park and on the merry-go-round
But if you gag their tiny mouths you know they hardly make a sound
Vacant stare
While he's throwing a tantrum, she's numb as he puts gum in her hair
Deep despair
While he's screaming and crying, she's lying if she says that she cares
Let's be fair
If the kid went away would she say someone had answered her prayers?
Don't be scared
Once we take them you make them forget that they were ever a pair
Be glad, you get to be a dad
You were supposed to make a baby with me
Stick to the plan, we'll find our perfect little man
And if it works, maybe two or three
Look Frank, you're the one shooting blanks
I won't let you take this from me
Once we get us a kid, make him forget what we did
And then we get to be a happy family
A happy family

Two Weeks to Live
04:37
|
|||
Turns out I was murdered
Gotta say that was quite a surprise
When you consider the cancer
I expected another demise
I got my diagnosis
It was worse than I thought it would be
A depressing prognosis
But the doctor gave it straight to me, he gave me
Two weeks to live
Too weak to give myself any more time
Two weeks to live
Too late for fate and I don’t know mine
And then I don't remember
It was dark when I woke up here
The eighteenth of December
The last fourteen days just disappeared
Now I'm nowhere
And a voice called from out of the black
It said you don’t belong here
I gotta send you back I’ll give you
Two weeks to live
Too weak to give you any more time
Two weeks to live
Who got away with the perfect crime
When I walk through that door
Am I myself anymore
I'm a victim
Someone took my final days
Someone owes me an answer
And someone’s gonna pay
I was murdered
Sent me back to here to find out why
Cancer wasn't the answer
I'm already running out of time I've got
Two weeks to live
Too weak to give myself any more time
Two weeks to live
Can I make the punishment fit the crime
Two weeks to live
Two weak to give myself any more time
Two weeks to live
Too late for fate and I don’t know mine
